The Internet can be used as a promotional tsunami...if you want.
Your company's Internet marketing strategy should begin in the planning stages of your Internet marketing campaign. Planning and assessing your plans is key to not wasting and loosing valuable time in launching a productive and profitable Internet marketing and publicity campaign. You have to work to find a happy medium. Too much time spent can be all consuming, while not enough time and effort can cause you to loose out on the endless possibilities of cyberpublicity. One of the beautiful things about Internet marketing is that you have at your finger tips, access to research and information on the demographics, special interests, and spending habits of your intended target market.
There are many aspects of consideration when planning an effective Internet marketing campaign, however, a few of the most important considerations should be:
1-Producing an online newsletter. Newsletters are easy to set up and maintain. You can either purchase list server software, or at bare minimal, utilize one of the many free (or very economical) list servers out there. The beauty of using a list server to get your newsletter before prospective customers is the fact that if someone takes the time to opt-in, chances are they will actually read your newsletter.
2-Posting to Newsgroups. Although helpful, newsgroups will not serve your purposes if you do not establish a consistent (without spamming) follow up schedule.
3-Announcement Campaigns. These are your direct links to the Internet public. Commercial online services such as America Online, Mindspring, and CompuServe are great places to begin.
4-Family, friends and business associates. Let everyone you know (that personally knows you), that you are trying to get the word out about your business. Ask them to refer you to others and, to discreetly allow you access to their personal email databases. If done properly, you can easily reach thousands of prospective customers a day simply through a well written introductory letter to the family, friends and business associates of your family, friends and business associates.
5-Reciprocal linking. Seek out those business and websites which enhance your product and/or services. Establish relationships where you scratch each others backs in the form of reciprocity.
The Internet has opened a whole new world to small enterprise and aspiring entrepreneurs. With a little diligence and commitment to developing and perfecting your Internet marketing campaign, you can easily reap the rewards of your efforts.
