The Pros And Cons Of Viral Marketing

As you work to grow your business and presence both in the real world and the virtual world, you should take marketing very, very, serious. You can have the best product or service this side of the Chattahoochee River, and yet, if no one knows about you (or bare minimal, if those who would be willing to spend money with you don't know), then what's the point? The marketing and promotions of your business is an aspect of your overall success strategy which should not just be a few newsletters, emails and fliers, haphazardly developed and delivered.

Enter: VIRAL MARKETING! "What?" say you, is that? Well, in a nutshell it is any marketing opportunity that can be utilized to exponentially place your product, service and business before literally millions of people...if done correctly and with some forethought. It is an effective means of branding and developing an impression in the minds of an audience. I say "an" audience, because the nature of viral marketing somewhat diminishes your ability to control your exact target market. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. A viral marketing plan is one that does inevitably has cons, however, the pros greatly outweigh them.

The viral marketing tools available to you are numerous. As a savvy business owner, you should research and take advantage of newsletter and email campaigns, Podcasts and viral videos. Although the Internet is indeed the Information Superhighway, the average person enjoys getting information, without much effort of thought. This is one reason webinars and viral videos are such a provocative means of advertising. If your concept is creative, and engaging, not only will most people watch your message, but will pass it on to others. In addition, you have to reach them (potential customers), in a variety of ways to connect and engage them. It’ll take multiple efforts like social networking, viral videos and podcasting to enhance or bring out the full message of what your company is all about.
